Two Shoemaking Centers Set Alight in Tehran Downtown

TEHRAN Two shoemaking centers were engulfed in fire here on Sunday, inflicting some Rls.200 million in damages, the Public Relations Office of the Fire Department announced.
The fire, which broke out in a shopping center in Sepahsalar Garden in downtown of Tehran, is said to have been caused by gas released by shoe glue which caught the fire of a burning cooker nearby.
Firemen arrived to extinguish the fire.
Since the beginning of the current year (started March 20), several housing and factory units have already been damaged by fire due to failure to take the necessary precautionary measures.
In another development, a fire broke out in a big clothes shop on Sunday morning in Naufle le Chateau St. in downtown, resulting in heavy damages.
Experts are still investigating the cause of the accident.
Firemen cordoned off the 6-story building where the shop was located. The first floor blaze died out 45 minutes after starting.
